Occupy Dame Street in city surrounds Central Bank building - POLL
Occupy Dame Street, an Irish protest outside the Central Bank headquarters is gathering momentum as more protesters join outside the center of Dublin location.The group is based on the 'Occupy Wall Street" protesters who have demonstrated in several American cities and in other countries.
The group says its mission is to end corruption in Irish life and banish the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank out of Irish affairs.
The group of a hundred or so set up camps outside the imposing bank building right across from Trinity College.
They are also demanding the return of Irish oil and gas rights of the West Coast of Ireland.
On their facebook page the Occupy Dame Street group say they are inspired by Tahrir Square as well as Occupy WallStreet.
They also state “Occupy Dame Street is one of dozens of sister occupations in the current movement initiated by Occupy Wall Street .
Now is the time for the spirit of the revolt in Tahrir Square to spread to other major cities and financial districts around the world.
Our demand in Ireland is that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and European Central Bank (ECB) stay out of our affairs. We do not want their influence or control. Our demand is that the private bank debt that has been socialised and burdened upon the population of the country who had nothing to do with it be lifted.
We will not pay and let our children and grandchildren pay for this mess that private banks and bondholders have caused. It is their problem, not ours. Our demand is that the oil and gas reserves off our coast that were criminally handed away to private corporations be returned to the people. Our demand is for real, participatory democracy - where the people's interests come first, where the people decide what happens.”
Police so far have said the demonstrations are peaceful.

How are you going to get the oil rights back after signing them away to private ownership? Even Brazil wasn't clueless enough to do that. They get residuals and stuff from the private companies doing the work. Cuba is now getting income from newly found fields. Who was the idiot in control who did it in the first place and no one protested or complained just for the quick money from a sale?
