In this 2012 National Geographic documentary we see a side to the Second World War usually hidden and perhaps wanting to be forgotten. The gruesome acts carried out by both sides in kill or be killed battles all across Europe, Africa and Asia. We meet with those who fought in the war, those who lived through the war, leaders and their descendants and experts on the subject. The film opens with a poignant quote "The soldiers duty is not to reason why, a soldiers duty is to do or die", in the conditions of war man becomes capable of acts one would not think possible.
Warning: The film contains graphic footage from the very start.
