"I only wish the press would allow our case to stand
or fall on its merits in court. It appears that
certain elements of the mass media have an active
interest in preventing this case from ever
coming to trial at all and find it necessary to
employ against me every smear device in the book. " Jim Garrison's Playboy Interview vol. 14 no. 10 - October 1967
New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison was the only person in America to bring about a trial in the assassination of president John F. Kennedy.
Garrison began an investigation into the assassination of President Kennedy in the fall of 1966, after receiving several tips from Jack Martin that a man named David Ferrie may have been involved in the assassination. The end result of Garrison's investigation was the arrest and trial for complicity in the murder of President Kennedy by New Orleans International Trade Mart director Clay Shaw in 1969.
