Larson: "We woke up the sleeping middle class"
By Bill Glauber of the Journal Sentinel
Madison -- State Sen. Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) said Saturday "we woke up the sleeping middle class to what the differences are between the two parties."
Larson criticized Republican tactics in the Legislature to pass Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.
"Every step of the way they used the process to shut out the public, and every chance we got we wanted to make sure they (voters) were heard," he said.
"We were fighting about this budget-repair bill up until now. Now the fight will turn to the budget," Larson said.
He said people will soon be "trading in rally signs for clipboards" as recall campaigns begin across the state.
Larson said "Republicans revealed themselves to be untrustworthy."
Bob Jauch (D-Poplar) criticized Republican Senators for voting to hold the Democrats in contempt for leaving the state.
"If anyone who should be charged with contempt, it's Republican lawmakers and the governor," Jauch said.
