This probably won’t come as a surprise to many of you. We already reported earlier in the month that AT&T had greased the palms of Non-Profit Organizations that wrote letters on their behalf in support of the AT&T/T-Mobile Merger. Now TmoNews is reporting via PaidContent.org that over 70 Congressmen who signed a letter on behalf of AT&T in the T-Mobile purchase, received donations.
AT&T is no stranger to the big payoff. Over the last two decades AT&T has been the single largest corporate donor to members of Congress. It’s apparently clear that AT&T can buy the support of Congress, but not a good quality network.
The list of House Democrats who signed the letter (from paidcontent.org) appears after the break. Many Congressmen received over $10,000 from AT&T in the last election cycle. Although the AT&T/T-Mobile merger was announced in March 2011, you can bet that this plan has been in the works for a long time.
