Nirvana's April 1989 concert at Man Ray in Cambridge

Thanks to former WFNX DJ DUANE BRUCE, this one's now up on the interwebs: the fabled performance given by the pre-Grohl version of NIRVANA at once-and-future goth club MAN RAY in Cental Square, Cambridge, on April 18, 1990. Depending on who you ask, there were somewhere between 60 and 75 people in attendance. Bruce, who can be heard introducing the band, recalls "Krist was his usual silly self . . . Kurt handed me a t-shirt as we headed for the stage. I read the back of it as I introduced them."

Versions of this show have been floating around since about 2002, and some Nirvana completists may have a longer version of this show in the vaults. This recording ends with "Stain," but according to these folks, here's the complete set list for that night:
  • School
  • Floyd The Barber
  • Love Buzz [Shocking Blue cover]
  • Dive
  • Scoff
  • About A Girl
  • Spank Thru
  • Breed
  • In Bloom

  • Stain
  • Negative Creep
  • Blew
  • Stay Away
