In terms of accomplishment, there has been a marked shift in the national political discourse towards issues of income inequality and unfair redisbutional practices, including a regressive tax code and subsidies to incredibly profitable industries at a cost to middle-class workers. This change in conversation has led to the introduction of the Buffet Rule tax reform proposal that should be voted on in upcoming weeks, as well as a call by the Obama administration to reduce subsidies to the oil companies that are already making record profits from increased fuel prices. So no, Occupy may not have achieved a society whose income distribution reflects the dual values of compassion and hard work, but we are better off than we were when we were discussing raising the debt ceiling.

Someone asked what Occupy has accomplished in 6 months, my response was well liked by friends from both sides...
